KELLYVILLE, Okla. (June 21, 2008) - A wild night at Creek County Speedway on Saturday resulted in five previous winners, a new points leader in one division and two disqualifications. Justin Cartwright won his second straight mini stock main event, Slim Burklin won his second front wheel drive feature in three weeks, Tommy Romine protected his super stock points lead with a third victory Hank Duensing repeated in pure stocks, and Leroy Cook, Jr. won for the second time in the modified division. Brett Thompson was the lone new winner easily winning the sprint car 20-lapper in a night that saw points leader Roy Larkin and Waylon Weaver disqualified after the two got into a fight in the pits.
Thompson grabbed the opening lap lead and went the distance to in the sprint feature winning ahead of veteran Len Larkin. It was career best Creek County finish for Larkin. Ricky York, Brian Parker and Jamie McDonald rounded out the top five. Roy Larkin was able to retain his points lead despite not racing in the feature. Larkin finished second behind Weaver in the opening heat race but the two got into a fight in the pits afterwards. Both teams were sent home for the night.
Cook led the final 10 laps in the modified feature after leader Randy Bailey spun in turn four. Bailey had just taken the lead away from Ashley Baskett when he spun. Jason Redman took over second behind Cook on the restart but pulled out on lap 15. Early leader Baskett moved back into second and finished ahead of third place Mark Hughes. Hughes moved into the points lead dropping Nick Henson, who did not race, into second.
Romine passed Daniel Pruitt on the final lap to win his third super stock feature of the season. Following a lap 18 restart Romine pulled inside of Pruitt in turn four of lap 19. Pruitt got loose and Romine roared ahead for the win. Trent McBride also got by for second and Pruitt recovered in time to hold on to third. Pruitt had led from the third lap when he passed David Henderson for the lead.
Duensing chased down Clent Southerland in the pure stock feature and the two ran door-handle to door-handle on laps six and seven. But Duensing pulled ahead on lap eight and went on to record his second straight victory. Points leader Ed Gragg finished third.
Kendall Shultz appeared on his way to victory in the mini stock main when he spun on lap eight. Cartwright was there to inherit the lead and win his third feature of the season. Mark Turnham challenged Cartwright on lap 15 before spinning. Donnie Gramblin took over second on the restart and defending champion Kenny Grumadas finished third ahead of Carl Lewis in fourth and Shultz who recovered for fifth. Lewis was able to maintain his points lead but only holds a two point margin over Grumadas.
Burklin had to hang on edging points leader Toby Cooper at the finish line to win his second front wheel drive feature. Points runner-up Joseph Tubbs was third. Britteny Vierheller led the first five laps before Raymond Tayloe took over. Tayloe led until losing power on lap 12. Burklin then took over but Cooper was charging his way toward the front after starting the race on the rear and challenged Burklin off the final turn but his bid fell short.
The OCRS sprints return on Saturday for the second wing/non-wing show of the season on Saturday. The OCRS will run two complete shows, one with wings on and one with wings off. Modifed, Super Stock, Pure Stock, and front wheel driver will also be racing. The mini stock division has the night off.

KELLYVILLE, Okla. (June 14, 2008) - Daniel Pruitt, Chad Davis, Eric Barnes and Hank Duensing earned their first victories of the season Saturday night at Creek County Speedway. Pruitt won in the super stocks while Davis returned to sweep in the modified division, Duensing took advantage of opportunity to win in the pure stocks and Barnes led all the way in the front wheel drive main event.
A mid-race power failure was not enough to stop Pruitt who led all 20 laps in the super stock feature. Pruitt moved into the early lead with Jimmy Owen and Butch Baxter following when the yellow waved on lap 10 for David Henderson who was stopped in turn three. While under the yellow the track lights went dark in turn three. After a short delay the lights came back on and Pruitt resumed his run to the checkered. In the closing laps Owen and Baxter battled for the runner-up position with Owen edging ahead just enough to claim second at the finish.
Davis took advantage of a front row starting position to go the distance in the modified 'A' feature. Making only his third start of the season, Davis led all the way but had to turn back a determined Kevin Lacy for the win. Lacy won a side-by-side duel with Mark Hughes for second on lap 11 then used a lap 17 restart to close on Davis. Lacy pulled under Davis on laps 17 and 18 but Davis held his line off turn four after a lap 20 restart for the victory. Lacy finished second ahead of Hughes in third.
Just like Pruitt and Davis Barnes set the pace in the FWD bomber main event. After taking the early lead points leader Toby Cooper challenged on lap eight and the two banged doors. Barnes held his position and pulled back ahead. Cooper settled for a close second.
Danny Smith raced to his third sprint car victory of the season winning over Waylon Weaver and Roy Larkin. Cody Cordell led the first seven laps before Ricky York took command. Following a lap eight restart Smith passed Cordell for second and went after York. Smith caught York in turn one of lap 11 and took away the lead. Waylon Weaver passed York for second on lap 15 but could not catch Smith. Larkin got by York for third on lap 19.
Justin Cartwright found a way to pass Michael Stucks with one lap remaining to win a hard fought mini stock feature. Stucks was looking for a second straight victory and appeared on his way after taking the lead on lap eight. But Cartwright stormed into second on lap 10 and eventually closed on Stucks. Cartwright was looking for passing room over the final eight laps and finally pulled alongside of Stucks down the backstretch of lap 19. Cartwright moved out front out of turn four and led the final lap for his second victory of the season.
Michael Tyre II saw a possible fourth straight pure stock victory escape his grasp when smoke poured from his engine while leading on lap 12. Tyre took the lead away from Amy Lewis on lap three and was cruising toward victory when his car quit in turn two. Duensing took over on the restart and went on to victory.
All classes will be racing Saturday starting at 7 p.m. A kids bicycle race will be held at intermission.
